Training/CADES
What is CADES all about?
The subject of drugs still remains one of the most emotive and controversial issues facing society today. However, whilst the debate on drugs still rages in the media, young people, parent, carers and professionals alike, still feel that they are ill-informed on drugs issues. A lack of basic knowledge and understanding about street drugs can heighten risks with experimental drug use, increase the likelihood of drug use, or at the very least, strengthen entrenched and ill-informed attitudes of young and old alike. The Community Alcohol Drug Education Service (CADES) provides specialist information and training services around drugs (including alcohol) to the community. We work closely with other agencies to ensure quality training and drug education is available to the community.
Our Aims
To raise the level of awareness about issues surrounding drugs and alcohol.
To continually develop an improved service using established and new research, methodologies and resources.
Reduce fear, misunderstanding and anxiety felt by some members of the community on drug issues.
Promote social inclusion and a better quality of life.
Create opportunities for professionals and the members of the community to come together and talk about drugs and alcohol issues. This can be achieved through conferences, seminars and specialist talks.
